While modern firearms and artillery are typically based on Earth designs, their ballistic properties differ due to Mars’ unique atmospheric and gravitational characteristics. Although the energy density of nitrate and perchlorate based propellants manufactured on Mars have their limitations, incremental advances in propellant quality and firearm design over recent decades has resulted in performance closely matching Earth antecedents.
